What is CSV File?

CSV stands for Comma Separated Values. It is a simple text file in which data and records are separated by commas. It allows data to be saved in tabular format. The extension of a CSV file is always .csv.

Importing and opening a CSV file in excel are two different things. When we open a CSV  file in excel, all the values and data get separated by commas. But, when we import the CSV files into excel, all the values and data get separated in the form of a table.

If you want to open a CSV file in excel then you can simply click on it. It will get opened. But, If you want to import it into excel, then here is the guide.

Step-1: First of all, download and save the CSV file which you want to import into excel.

Step-2: Now, start excel with a blank workbook.

Step-3: Go to the Data tab and click on From Text/CSV under the Get & transform data group.

Step-4: Now, select the file and click on import.
